Maybe that's because they don't know. She moved from York to Shildon on 20th May, and will go back sometime early July.

Following the earlier post through today, further investigations were made, 5972 is due to leave in the first week of July to an unknown location.

There is a Hogwarts Express Railtour from Edinburgh to Mallaig on the 4th of July?
    Any possible link?

Is 5972 allowed to be operated and marketed as hogwarts express ?, after all Thomas is licensed and controlled...as mentioned before 5972 isn't used too often... You'd expect this engine would be capitalised as such.. 5972 is probably more famous than tornado and flying Scotsman combined to the under 21s.

If some promoted a summer daily hogwarts express from paddington to Oxford it'd be overloaded with Americans.

Kings Cross to Cambridge would be better.. I'm a bit biased about that though!

I have been asked by a friend if I know where they can get to ride behind Olton Hall in its Hogwarts guise, so the question to M'learned colleagues is just that.
Anyone know if Olton Hall is performing anywhere soon?
    Thanks

Bad timing! York last week was the place, on the York-Shildon shuttles. I believe it is laid up at the moment for some minor repairs.

As for the future, well the NRM have used it quite a lot on their demo line at York, and it has paid visits to the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway in each of 2009, 2010 and 2011. Both promote the "Wizard Weekend" type of theme when they do it, so I'd keep an eye on both websites.

It was certainly at the GWR in 2009, but I'm pretty sure that it's not been back. There was a plan for a return visit in 2010, but it didn't happen.

I'm not too sure how it works so I may not be correct but I believe Warner Brothers have to give permission for 5972 to run as Hogwarts Castle as I think she's hauled a fair few tours as Olton Hall but in the red liviery although the GWSR did get permission a few years back when she visited and I think she's been seen about with the Hogwarts Express headboard.

Last time I saw 5972 was in Brunswick Green at the NYMR in 1998 not long after she returned to service I think.

That is absolutely correct, several of us went there for it in 2009 and I believe it was due to the first landslip it didnt return in 2010.
    Its a very elusive loco.

As of Yesterday [October 7] 5972 was on static display at Shildon - under cover and adjacent to 3717 City of Truro.
