As no thread appears to have been started yet:

Presumably too early to tell which loco is likely to haul it.
Suspect it will have to have a WCRC diesel on the back as usual - to haul the whole train back to Southampton area. (Too little time to split loco and tender for turning on Swanage's 50ft turntable in readiness for the return journey.)

I think 777 is unlikely, since she's now back at Loughborough and being advertised for their gala the weekend before this trip. As buzby2 suggests, most likely Tangmere on the down trip with DL at rear, diesel back up as far as Southampton, then Tangmere leading via Romsey and Andover. This scheme has worked well a number of times during the last 2 years.

I see from my just received info that this now starts at Euston and terminates at Kensington O on return. Looks like a bail out at Woking. Booked two hours from there back to KO.

Euston - Swanage! Now that has to be a first.

    Or is it?

I supose the trip out from London Euston must be via South Acton, Kew East Junction and Hounslow. Or is there another way it can go?

Interesting. My "normally reliable sources" suggest that Tangmere will arrive at Motala (the NR/Swanage Rly boundary?) at 16:10 having turned at Eastleigh 13:00 - 14:30. They tell me that the up train should depart Motala 17:05, Bournemouth 17:48-50, water at Eastleigh 18:36-47, Basingstoke 19:27-31 and the rest as shown above. I'm no expert in Swanage Railway operation, but 16:10 at Motala is clearly too late for the light engine to get to Swanage for a 16:20 departure. Will the tour train will be worked from Swanage to Norden by another loco? Will Tangmere be able to arrive earlier? How does this fit around the normal SR service (There's a special timetable for the day at the bottom of the SR timetables web-page)?

Mark, all those times you give are correct.
Only snag is Tangmere's light run from Eastleigh to Motala is on Friday :)

Swanage Railway has been told to be ready for Loco+Support Coach+10 coaches [i.e. No diesel at rear].
34067 Tangmere arrived safely on SR metals just after 1600 today, running tender first, hauling its support coach. Have no idea when 70013 Oliver Cromwell will leave Swanage however.

Obviously hoping it wouldn't be, but there's a very nice main line diesel at Swanage anyway if arrangements were needed.

70013 was looking and sounding good as she pulled away from Winchfield a little late this morning. We were at Pot Bridge and you could hear 70013 working hard from the water stop. Lovely sound!
