We are planning to launch 57xx Pannier 7752 in London Transport livery at our June Open weekend.

I wanted to give a quick update of progress so far.

There is a lot of more history of the engine on our web-site at http://www.tyseleylocoworks.co.uk/tlw/7752.htm

    Work is progressing well.

We are ready to remove the side tanks so we can lift the boiler. Just waiting for the weather to improve slightly so we can "fire" up the steam crane for the lift.

We removed an injector pipe cover from the rear of the RHS tank and found the LT paint and lining still underneath from the 1970's. Makes matching the paint a whole lot easier - looks a LOT like LMS colours to me - analysis will tell!

We are forging ahead at full speed! The vols on Saturday finished taking the casing off both boilers ready for the boiler swap next week. L94 (7752) will get her boiler back after several years of service on 7760.

The boiler is in very good health - just needs some tubes and a few stays (we think). We will know 100% when we get it off, but fingers crossed!

The bottom-end motion is looking good - just needs a bit of a clean-up.

At the moment the two engines are sitting together - all we need is the tender off Rood Ashton and we will have a Dean Goods! Lol

    More to follow!

With the East Midlands Pannier tour rapidly approaching, presumably a mainline test run must be in the pipeline for 7752 ?

true story . at the age of 4 I was taken down to Stratford (after my mum had got a call about a steam locomotive being there) I was taken down and there was 7752 . We spent the afternoon rehearsing the number so i could tell my dad what I'd seen when he got home . Needless to say after all the excitement I failed miserably but have always had a soft spot for her ever since

Many years on , L94 (7752) at Stratford again and the next generation can enjoy the experience . Just History repeating

I wonder if Vintage Trains will do one of their passenger carrying test runs with this loco. Tyseley / Shirley - SOA is the usual format.

They said on Sunday at the open day that they would be doing exactly that, and warned it would be at short notice. So keep an eye on their website. It will be soon!

2 questions, Where will it be put on the website and how short notice is it likely to be?
    Cheers
    Steve

Maybe Ben will answer that. I guess it will be listed on the tours page and most likely on the front page.

I am starting to think that the choice of LT Livery for L94 (7752) and her main ine test run, just might have something to do with the Underground's 150th anniversary in 2013. I wonder what delights LT have in store for us that year :)

It really had very little to do with the 150th anniversary. We decided that as it was the 40th anniversary of its last run for LUL (and effectively last commercial operation of a main line steam loco in 1971, we would overhaul it and get it going again. We would of course be delighted to assist in the underground's 150th if they wanted it, but as to what happens, I'm afraid that you will have to ask them.

    Regards
    Bob

I think it looks splendid in LT maroon, good luck with the project.

If anything does begin to happen with LU for the 2013 anniversary please post it up here!

We are able to take passengers on the trial run tomorrow (Thursday) night!!

We depart Hall Green at 19:20 for a return to Stratford along the North Warwick line. We hope to be back around 21:15.
The price for the return is 20 pounds on the day.

“Please note that all bookings are only accepted on the clear understanding that this service is being operated as a trial and that Vintage Trains Ltd. accepts no liability for failure to operate the train to plan or to complete the journey”.
