I found this on Youtube - it relates to the removal of a wagon in 1969 from Fallgate on the Ashover Light Railway

Now i am not an expert but this is definitely from the Heath Robinson wagon loading school

It was quite well organised for the time. Looking at the miners helmet being worn by one of the team, no doubt the tirfor used was 'borrowed' from the NCB for the job!

Ahhh the NCB! I wonder how donkey jackets are still in existence?

In the old days at Peak Rail, when everything came in via Station Road at Darley Dale, i was amazed how precarious rolling stock looked on Allelys trailers. The only occasion i saw something go wrong was when the "banksman", who should have been attention to the lorry reversing was more interested in checking a local resident sun bathing - one slightly damaged wall was the result!

I don't think her husband would be too happy - the wall recovered

A lot of heritage railways had a lot of help from the NCB/British Coal, both officially and unofficially.

I've still got a Donkey jacket. And a duffle coat!

I think they got burnt and Colin Pealling had the bogies. The chap in the helmet looks to be a younger Roy Etherington, then in the employ of the NCB...

Yes that does look to be Roy Etherington, definatley one of the larger than life characters. Roy went to be very involved with the Market Bosworth light Railway.

In 1969 there still looks to be a fair amount of stock left at Fallgate, was that the only piece rescued from there?
