    My understanding was that PRCLT had enough on their plate keeping Sutherland in top class condition without doubling their work load and expense.

    I just looked at the update at the PRLCT website. There is now a picture of the superheater elements completely installed. I also appreciate the picture because I know of another locomotive that had its superheater elements cleaned recently (5 or 6 months ago).

    So does having clean superheater elements help speed up an overhaul?

    I've always wondered what the half-cylindrical indentation in the boiler cladding half-way down the boiler barrel and above the running-plate mounted mechanical lubricators is for. Can anyone enlighten me?

    I remember reading somewhere that it was to enable the lids on the lubricators to be fully opened.

    Just a quick question - Does anyone know if the locomotive has been fitted with trifurcated superheater elements, as I'd heard that at the last overhaul bifurcated elements were used. I guess in its preservation career there's not much to be gained, but the superheat temperature will be higher with trifurcated elements.
