I'm wondering which way the Exeter trip is planned to go? I'm presuming via Wilton Junction and Westbury to Cogload Junction, but here's hoping that a path can finally be identified on the West of England mainline. Just a shame its on a Thursday.

No pick up at Stains, does that mean straight down the main line on the 9th behind a Merchant Navy, that's enough to make a Yeti weep, lol

I believe that there are additional intermediate signals being installed (near Crewkerne ?) to break the long Yeovil Jc to Chard Jc section. I gather that this should be sufficient to allow a steam path through to Exeter. I am not sure about the timescale for commissioning but I think the signals may already be in place.

I feel 35023 would be better. Last scheduled "2" hour, (not by then), express to Bournemouth, and onto Weymouth, but on the 8th of course.

Well, I may not be able to get away with doing Waterloo-Exeter, but it bodes well for the future, notwithstanding timetable intensification. However, another trip has caught my eye, provisionally 60009 from Glasgow to Aberdeen via Stirling and Perth on 23/09/12. This is probably intended to be an optional trip for their Scottish weekend, with the possibility for us daytrippers to get on. Not a bad price, either at £74 for standard. Can certainly see myself travelling north for that.

I felt a smile come to my face when I saw the 35028 9th July run mentioned in the new issue of Heritage Railway. Should be another run to remember. Might book this up before Christmas as I think it will be very popular!

Are they planning another "special run" like this years adventure?

From what we were told after the 9th July run this year, if it had all gone smoothly (which it did) CE would repeat the fast running and non-stop schedule next year. The 9th July run with 34067 this year was also a "trial run" to prove that it could be done. With 35028 in charge this time perhaps they might have a longer formation.
