10 Gresley A3's

Afternoon all

I have added the following photo to a new collection of steam locos on shed or in works, this photo shows at least 10 withdrawn Gresley V2's or A3’s sadly no loco id’s (anyone know what they are?)
Also is this at Doncaster?

A large number of withdrawn V2s arrived at Swindon Works - their tenders were converted to snow ploughs. I wonder if your photo is of that occurrence.

 

The V2s were at Swindon Works during September 1964, appears that four of them were: 60887; 60916; 60932 and 60964.

 

Neil - your locos are V2s. The most obvious difference from an A3 is the lack of splashers over the driving wheels on the running board of the V2 hence the positionning of nameplates on the side of the smokebox or a cast place location on the running board.

 

The wheel arrangement was even a bigger clue.
