So sope to see lots of people off the forum coming to see the engine have a nice little stroll throught the dales, or will you all be at home talking about 6619's whistle................

6619 rostered as far as I know, that will look like an odd double header in the morning and afternoon!

Beatrice passed its 'cold' inspection on Monday. Work is now underway to progress this further.

Gothenburg arrived safely and is out on trains (6-wheelers - vintage set) tomorrow and Sunday, with 6619 on the main set.

22's boiler has seen the barrel repairs completed, the inner firebox is now ready to be re-fitted with the sling stays which have been made.

Beatrice was in light steam today as the next stage of testing. No problems encountered.

Progress over Summer 21/09/11

On the locomotive front, Norman has been working hard and performing well, ably assisted by 6619. Beatrice successfully passed the cold inspection and work has subsequently been carried out in readiness for its 'in steam' inspection. Gothenburg visited over August, hauling the Stately Trains services on two separate weekends, prior to playing the role of Thomas over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Illingworth has seen very little progress as the boiler contractor has not been on site of late, but it is expected to make rapid progress once he returns. Annie continues to move slowly towards re-wheeling, with new crankpins being the order of the day. 22's boiler has had a lot of the work completed at Israel Newton & Sons works in Idle.

Nice to see a provisional date of August next year for a steam gala as well, although the diesel weekend has gone.

 

Is anybody able to tell me which loco is out this weekend please ?

 

6619 is rostered this w/e and Tuesday. I have recently been given the details for this month / next, and will post shortly.

Steam Gala Weekend Saturday - Sunday August 2012 (Subject to confirmation)

Sounds promising

 

6619 is not scheduled to be running this coming w/e, but is the engine of choice for the Santa season (which is book-in-advance only).

The proposed Steam Gala has been withdrawn as there are no guarantees that any of the proposed locomotives will actually be running by then... Instead of having to change our plans so many times, the Board felt it would be better to hold back until we actually have guaranteed engines.

HOWEVER, the Mixed traction weekend over the May Bank Holiday will be 'busy' and may well see some unusual things happening - but I cannot say more until I know whether the timetable ideas actually work...

Illingworth's boiler has stalled for now as the contractor has been unable to come and do the work, although the girder stays (new) and inner firebox are now back on site and the boiler has been turned over to facilitate their reassembly.

Beatrice is due a visit for the boiler inspection in January / February time - current work sees the pipework being completed and a few leaks attended to, as well as putting together all the paperwork in readiness.

 

Thanks for the clear update of what is happening Tim; fingers crossed for some events and some new locos for you in 2012.

I guess the diesel weekend for 2012 is not listed for similar reasons.
