Light Engine test earlier this afternoon went off without a hitch.

Hope all can join us tonight for the loaded run from Hall Green to Stratford and return!

Hi Ben, Like campainr said just for video locations, an engine running backward is best filmed from the side IMHO.

Good to hear it all went well this afternoon, shame I couldn't have stayed for this evenings run as I would have loved to be behind that little engine, don't she look good!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gasOPgDQP_k for my (short) video.

There is something deliciously cheeky about a Pannier confidently setting of with no fuss on a trip out on the national network in 2011 over 45 years after things like this were supposed to stop happening!

Something intangible in fact which just cannot be captured by your flashy 4-6-2's and the like.

Well done to Bob, Alistair and the TLW lads for making this sort of thing possible and good luck for tonights loaded run.

Looking good. Given the GWR steam brake supposedly is more controllable when light engine with the vac dumped and one bag left off, have any of the panniers been modified given I assume TPWS etc runs off the vac system? Or is it just down to good driving skills with the vac system?

I'll second that! It's always a treat to see a Pannier on the Main Line. It's a tribute to the great bunch of folks at Tyseley that we can still see this sight in 2011.

At Stratford. Not bad for my little camera but no doubt many more better shots to come from this location. (Apologies for taking up half the page as well - already thought I'd reduced it by 75%!)

EDIT: Sorry Matt didn't see you there!

My Effort from tonight at Stratford, pretty similar to Matt's as he was standing next to me for most of the duration!: http://www.flickr.com/photos/david_1984/6332445577/in/set-72157627932251509

Did try to get a second shot after detraining at Hall Green, but she got away quicker than i could set up the Camera properly and was off the platform end anyway, least i just about managde to get her in at Stratford on something like 24MM from the plat end, as Martin says it was a pleasant way to spend a Thursday evening.

Also a fairly average effort of the Light test run earlier in the day from Tyseley: http://www.flickr.com/photos/david_1984/6332445315/in/set-72157627932251509/
