1501 could well be making a welcome return at the Spring gala. With 34027 in September (too which i hope we have a few Southern locos to compliment her). Nothing has been confirmed by the SVR about 4492 yet. It would look rather nice on the teaks but lets just wait until there is an official release about locos coming in March. The lateness of the gala combined with the early nature of Easter next year makes me wonder if a couple of the guests may stay on for an extra week and appear over the 4 days of Easter.

62005 interests me more than 4492 - it would look great on the maroon Mark 1 set.

If the SVR makes the Autumn gala into a 'small engines' theme as has been discussed here and elsewhere, is it likely that the night running will move to March as well?

Can't say for certain, but exceedingly unlikely. It is an Autumn fixture rather than dependent upon size of locos visiting - it tends to be home engines running the overnight services anyway.

With the pressure on getting sufficent volunteers and also keeping our neighbours happy, the railway has always said that all night running is something that is done on one weekend a year on Autumn gala . If you did a cost analysis it probably does not cover its cost anyway.

I would not make any assumptions either about 1501 for spring Gala or TV for autumn gala, it is all dependant on how the work progresses.

In terms of the railway maintenance as you will know it is spending £200,000 on Bewdley tunnel which means a line closure for a period of time.

Arguably the smaller stuff is much more suited to pottering up and down load 4 on overnights anyway :) Certainly, if the branch line type gala features overnight running this year, that's a weekend rover sold here!

Another if post.....If No:4492 'Dominon of New Zealand' is visiting, as per Steam Railway magazine, then permit me, if you will to make a small suggestion:It might be interesting if the SVR hired in one of the LNER's 'Beavertail' coaches, one of which I believe is in operation at the Great Central Railway. This would make quite an interesting pairing with the 'A4' with a streamlined front and back. Advertising that such as vehicle would be at the event could be advantageous because it would be something that might encourage people to actually ride on the trains rather than simply watching from the fence. A small extra charge for riding in it could be added to try and help cover the costs of hiring the 'Beavertail' in. Also, if it was/is possible to do, it would make quite a nice side on photo of the whole train (which would be difficult as the train would then be quite long) with the streamlined front and back!It is only a suggestion!

The Autumn SVR gala is rumoured to be a small engine/branchline theme, so the T9 would be most welcome on the Valley for that one, irrespective of whether Taw Valley is ready by then.

The problem is that this vehicle was comprehensively rebuilt in the 1950s and is no longer a beavetail, rather it has a much squarer profile.

I hate to say this, but would it be in the right colour for 4492 and the Teaks?

Perhaps you think the SVR should ask your permission before arranging a gala?

    You need to get real!

    Severn Valley Railway Website Announcement:

"The Severn Valley Railway is delighted to team up with 'Steam Railway Magazine' for its spring steam enthusiasts gala event. With a move to a new springtime date, the steam gala already promises to be one of the great enthusiasts events of the year.

Whilst some of the locomotive line-up is still being finalised, we are able to confirm the first visiting locomotives. They will be:

No. 4492 - Dominion of New Zealand which will operate togther with our rake of LNER teak coaches.

No. 828 - Caledonian '812 class' 0-6-0 which makes a popular return before moving away from the SVR.

A full three days of great steam action.

    Special timetable.

    Revised fares apply."

    Thanks,
    Lewis

I can't see them running just the set made up of teaks anyway, bound to be one maroon/blood & custard on the back.

I don't know whether this would be possible, but if the Kitchen Compo (7960) has it's Kitchen's locked then it could make for an 8-coach Teak set.

I don't really see your point......an A4 with an LNER teak set may not be an authentic sight on the SVR, but neither is a T9.....

The point is we have seen A4s loads of times at galas before its the same again. The T9 is not authentic but different if we only had authentic locos for galas they would be very boring things.

The comment about A4s and teaks was to say its not a unique chance to see as it can be seen other places and A4S as other were suggesting it was a once only event which it is not
