86223, stored from Norwich and IANA in April 2004, has been broken up at Kingsbury, only its severed cab is visible, RIP.

If you understood truly the meaning behind RIP then you wouldn't use it for the demise of something so unimportant as a locomotive.

"Diesel & Electric Traction" is where this thread belongs, not "Photography"

But the forum invites people to use 'Photography' under the heading 'For the young and old. If you want tips or advice, or just want share your pictures.' Surely the moderators can be trusted to weed out what is thought to be unsuitable and in the meantime people have a choice to look or not look. Whilst I have some empathy over peoples feelings on the use of 'RIP' as a heading - threads such as this could also be seen as a valuable resourse for anyone researching a paticular period of railway history.

This thread I started seems to causing a bit of a stir for two reasons. The use of the term RIP seems to some inappropriate however I do not seem to be able to edit the title to something less emotive. Secondly there seems to be a view that this thread should be either somewhere else or not exist. As far as I can see the photography section of the forum is for threads that "just want to share your pictures". In doing so I try and link the picture to some event. Therefore I believe I am following the rules of the forum on both where I have placed the thread and on its content.

Johnw, if you PM the moderators and ask them to change the title, i know they will be only too glad to help. 'End of the line' might be a suitable one?. Keep posting your stuff - your captions are a wealth of info !

John W I will change the title for you. PM me what you would like it changed to although I do think that Johns (60017) suggestion is a good one. As for posting in the wrong section as some have suggested John is once again correct this is the right section for the photos so continue to post away!

Ok I have edited the thread title to the one suggested by John (60017) above. As to where things should be posted, the team had a discussion re this just prior to Christmas as sometimes people complain when a member posts a set of photos in steam traction or diesel/ electric traction that may be archive stuff so we created the photo sub forums for this reason, here:-

    Photography

I would suggest photos of recent happenings would really belong in the steam traction or diesel electric traction sections? Though photo section may still be appropriate.

    Neil.

Oh, I seem to have cross posted with Pete!
