Anyone know what happened on the departure from Bristol? Have seen a video of it leaving then slipping and coming to a stop?

Great videos and pictures though, 6024 is looking and sounding amazing at the moment, shame its going for overhaul next year, it's on fine form!

More likely an acknowledgement of the late Bernard Staite whose family disposed of his ashes in 6024's firebox at the summit of Llanvihangel. There were quite a few on the footplate that day ....

A fair few of us were sat waiting at Craven Arms station wondering what was going on, now the reason is revealed. We heard her whistle at 17.40 as she entered the loop and she didnt reappear until 18.43.. I am sure that the vast numbers of passengers waiting at Ludlow in the freezing cold were really impressed too..

It also watered from a bowser whilst it was there, but that was fairly swift. The chap from the footplate who came up to the crossing when they finally arrived to clip the points was clearly not too impressed with the situation, he commented on feeling sorry for the 500+ people stuck at Ludlow waiting!

For those following this thread but not on either of the two trains, just to let you know it was the train hauled by Tornado that sat at Craven Arms - the King hauled train (running an hour or so earlier) watered at Hereford.

As noted in the other thread, after NR inflicted an hour's delay at Craven Arms, the total deficit of 70 minutes was halved by the time the train arrived at Paddington. Full marks to all the crews on both locos for providing such a spectacle for us steam-starved folk in the Welsh Marches!

Did anyone on board the Pathfinder train manage to get a picture of the two (adult) idiots who thought that sitting on the troughing in the cess next to the down main in the cutting at Panteg (backs to traffic on the line next to them) was a good place to get their picture.? As a result the train was stopped at Panteg in the middle of the 1 in 95 bank.
