    I do think the Duchess's look rather well without the deflecters.......reminds me of my old Hornby Dublo 3 rail Duchess of Atholl

    I have, and to fully overhaul an engine in that timescale is fantastic, yes i am aware that the terms of the poll were for this to be for 12 months, but given precieved "problems" in the way that the poll was carried out i am just asking the question that to prehaps gain some public goodwilll back and to possibly obtain more funding, when it could be needed at a later stage , the trust should at least concider another repaint towards the end of its ticket into another livery that the class once could once have carried

    Still dreaming for an all blue line-up of 60007, 6023 and 46233!
    What a marvellous achievement made in one year, well done PRCLT :)

    She does look even more muscular without those smoke deflectors, doesn't she? Fantastic job, chaps. Looking forward to seeing her back on the mainline really soon.

    As for an all-blue line-up - I thnk that's one for our friends at Ficticious Liveries (for the moment)

    According to the latest Railway Herald 46233 already has 22 miles on the clock with its new boiler it having done a hush -hush run over MIland Railway Centre metals sometime last week. Considering the boiler was only lifted on 15 December 2010 thats well under 12 months to running under its own steam again.

    Not keen on the minus deflectors look personally, makes it just look like a giant boiler on wheels more than a steam locomotive.

    Be interesting to see how they spend their time between now and late March when the test run is due once painting is complete, be a few itchy fingers to get going after just a few runs at the MRC.

    Looks better without deflectors;

    If it has to have deflectors, I'd rather it had the german pattern a la Gresley A3...

    (no, not trolling, I really think so, and they were very effective, but I can imagine the explosions of ire in the purist areas so it obviously would never ever happen.)

    It would be interesting to see a "Duchess" with German smoke deflectors !!

    Should've done it when it was still in black. Add deflectors, paint the wheels and frames red....

    Not everything German is black with red wheels.... See my avatar picture as proof.

    If you really want to upset Ralph why not suggest putting a copper cap chimney, GW cab and some Swindon brass work on it instead :)

    Incidentally I saw the LMS attempt of midlandizing GW locos tonight in Hyde park..

    everyone has their limits - and that's way past mine...:der: I'm only talking about bolt on bits.

    paint it red and hang some extra bits of metal outside the drivers?

    (OK, you mean Olton Hall, but that's just paint - I suppose if British Railways had chosen red instead of blue as their new colour, the whole fleet would have looked like that)
