Will the news that a 'new' LMS diesel being built does anyone else consider that another worthy pilot diesel be recreated, that being the Bulleid D16/2 1CoCo1 locomotive?

Although no expert on the subject I understand that they share may parts with the BR class 40 (bogies/generator group etc?) by using last uprated 10203 design as a starting point could a follow on locomotive '10204' be built using a 2000bhp English Electric SVT16 engine which I understand are not completely uncommon with many in use/exist.

I remember reading that Class 40 bogies were retained for converstion into snow ploughs etc and (again I'm no expert) that some exist... in fact isn't 34046 'Braunton' tender running with class 40 wheel sets?

Could happen, but may be easier to convert an existing class 40, but as its very similar, is there any point ?

a standard 2mt tank is very simular to an Ivatt 2mt tank, but the bluebell are still converting a mogul into one! at the end of the day, we all have our secret dreams, mine is two western engines, two class 47's and alot of work, hey presto a falcon!

No, you may be thinking of the Class 45 (45015) - I don't think that it has been scrapped yet but its coat is definitely on a shaky nail so to speak.

Lets try and do one thing at a time chaps; please donate to the Mark 1 16SVT engine appeal on LMS10000 and ask the question seriously when the first one is certain.
