As reported in the Christmas white rose thread and I noticed on uk steam it should of headed back yesterday, Just went past hornsey on the way to work, 4492 in steam with what looks like a 37/4 on the front. I can only assume she's still being warmed up as there was a few drifts of black smoke from her. Can assume she'll run back to southall after the peak.

70013 Oliver Cromwell is reported to have left Carnforth Steamtown tonight (Mon 19 Dec) by road. Destination unknown, as is how / when it reached Carnforth.

    Cheers

Destination will probably be LE11, better known as Loughborough, it's booked to work the diner on Christmas Day!

    Taken from the 5305LA site:

'Cromwell had to return to the Great Central Railway for booked work over the Christmas period and, as it was not possible for operational reasons to send the loco back to the GCR by road from York immediately, 70013 plus its support coach made the journey to Carnforth on Saturday evening. Road haulage back to Quorn was booked for Monday 19th December.'

That was all kept quiet wasn't it! No movement info on UKS & info only posted today on 5305LA. Oh well.... I'm surprised there's nowhere closer to the GCR for Cromwell to be transferred to road -
140 or so miles seems along way for it to have to be risked transported by road.

Yes only noticed that when I got home having been puzzled to see 70013 running through York on its magical mystery departure! Perhaps if it is really a sort of unrelated move to the tour it should at least be indicated on the loco movements page? Just a thought.

I'm glad it run on time, I was hoping to do Aldershot myself this morning but got delaid at home.

Will catch her when she goes back as long as it's not a Midnight run.

Thanks. Unfortunately the photo's I got were somewhat blurred even though I had changed the settings to suit the very dark conditions. I decided to take my little digi-cam as well to get some video just in case! Thanks again for the info about this. Did you have much luck?

yep, a tad early through Tring apparently , so if it doesn't pick a box up somewhere (like Crewe) I'll venture out in the rain for a steam fix, hopefully a good bit of whistling as well.

well there's always a chance of rumours about, thats life!. cheers.

Tangmere practically cruised to Carnforth today. I doubt she is going to be in Carnforth for long.
