Nope if it was there it would have been seen , i have no real idea of her whereabouts, but given that she hasnt been seen might she be at carnforth? because if she isnt at bury, then that seems the most likily restoration base with the facilities , given that her current/ former owner has connections with West Coast, then i would guess that he would take it there even if just for storage

    LOST

Large rusty railway engine and tender, measuring 21m X 4m x 3m approx. Very heavy. AKA 'rebuilt merchant navy British India Line'

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of this locomotive should log into National Preservation .com, Steam Traction thread and leave a message..

Yes you have Chris! Curious to think where it is now, especially if it's not supposed to be too far away from steaming.

Surley a few years away from steaming again. All the sea air must of played havoc with all the completed restoration work which was completed back in the late 80s.

Perhaps it's become part of the Strategic Reserve...............?
My guess is it's at Box Tunnel.

Well, I have, this morning, spoken to the people at South Coast Steam Portland and it has been confirmed that 35018 British India Line is still on their site.
    Hunt over.

What do South Coast Steam do and why do they have a collection of locomotives?

From what I can see; they are a manufacture of lifting and handling equipment. I can't help why they have a small collection of locomotives.... Is it possibly just for storage?

All you did was bung "South Coast Steam" into Google. South Coast Steam is a supplier of steam locomotive parts to mainline and preserved steam locos. South Coast Crane Hire is part of the empire....

They won't tell you who owns 34018 or where it is going - some things are confidential, even to enthusiasts!

If you want a new injector, it will probably come from South Coast Steam; if you want a new safety valve, it will probably come from South Coast Steam; if you want a new washout plug, it will probably come from South Coast Steam,; if you want a new stay tap, it will probably come from South Coast Steam. The list is almost endless. Need I say more?

As for the locos being there, each one has its own reason and those reasons are confidential.
