    lets face it, the majority of whats said on Nat Pres is "extraneous". Conversation is by definition "not essential", but we all seem to like doing it none the less? if you were only ever allowed to post what everyone NEEDS TO KNOW it would be a bloody dull forum.

    Seems like Galatea has firmly taken over the lead, since Brauntons first Christmas runs, and subsequent disappearance again, 45699 has now been out on a mainline test.
    how long does it take to fit GSMR to a Bulleid, 34067 and 35028 seemed to have managed ?

    i know it'll be ready when its ready..just seems a long time to fit a box with a mobile phone.

    I have heard the same as Bulleid Pacific. There are some technical problems with the brake system that are proving difficult to fix. Reading between the lines, it seems to me that communication between the various people involved (owners, support volunteers, contactors, etc.) is sometimes quite slow, so consultation on what to do at each stage takes quite a long time.

    How practical s it for steam to use the portable boxes ?( assuming it can be safely stowed).
    Steam isn't on the network daily.. Could save quite a lot of pennies if it, like most steam locos, is only used once a week.
