    What I said was

"To be honest I am not interested in wether or not you can join online, its getting volunteers to undertake the numerous projects the Talyllyn is undertaking thats my core activity."

If you want to learn more about Volunteering on the Talyllyn, please contact me at volcoordinator@talyllyn.co.uk I will then arrange for a visit for anyone who is interested on a suitable day from the beginning of February 2012 onwards. Can't make any earlier due to annual leave in January.

The trackwork on the Wharf Pendre renewal has now been completed, to a state where trains can run at 5mph. Drainage work has been started, but the bulk of this section of the work will not be undertaken until after the Christmas Festivities. Why not come and visit us and see what we have been up to! The Drainage work has proceeded well with the South Cess drain now completed as far as the cutting summit. Next phase will be to start the carrier drain from the Wharf Road overbridge towards the summit.

There is still lots of work to be done, working parties will meet each weekend to carry on with the work.

The new storage shed at Quarry is also progressing with the steelwork and cladding material delivered ready for construction to continue. Once the shed is complete trackwork will need to be completed so the gang will have plenty of work to do in 2012.

More drainage material was delivered today 2 February, so there is still plenty of work to be done on the drainage. Work will be continuing each weekend if anyone fancies giving a hand.

During Outdoor Week much more work was undertaken on the drainage in Wharf Cutting, however the railway is planning a final long weekend to get work done to enable the currrent speed restriction to be lifted. If you can land a hand between 16th to 19th March we will be pleased to see you. The gang meets at Pendre at 08:30 each morning if you fancy coming and giving a hand. To date over 850 man days have been spent on the project by volunteers this winter. This takes the likely costs of the project to over £100,000

Pictures of the work to date are available on the Talyllyn Railway Website www.talyllyn.co.uk
