Thanks to all members who posted replies to my questions regarding locos double heading / banking and also the condition of the local roads.

I've packed the bags, programmed the sat nav, ignored the latest weather forcast and will be heading north in the morning.

    Regards

Thanks to KWVR_Publicity for providing further info re the night shoot.

Re the reference to the picnic area??? Does this mean this is the only area where photographers are to be permitted to take pictures from?

    Thanks

Just back from the launch of the Coal Tank and very sorry I can't make the Gala; it's going to be a superb weekend.

From reading the KWVR website I would guess that the picnic area will be closed to stop people getting free shots instead of paying to go into the yard.

Yes I have looked at the KWVR website, nearly every day for a week, but 80002's return was always going to be close to call, it was billed as subject to retubing being completed to time. I was told this morning some final jobs needed completing so I thought I would just check hopeing someone from the railway could confirm.

On teatime news on 09/02 local conditions around Skipton were described as atrocious with police requesting motorists to go out only if absolutely necessary. Since I want to come over from Southport can anyone on the KWVR advise weather condition on Friday and whether it is safe to come over ?

A little late perhaps but is it worth even considering postponing Gala (if weather is too bad) until a later date ?

That's interesting, they usually describe Winter conditions as 'treacherous', I wonder if 'atrocious' is a step up or down from that? More than a little late to consider postponing a gala I'd say, with locos presumably already having warming fires!

Should bow out over night, secondly if you check Bradford you will find the forcast better, I usualy take an average of the two, I suspect the main issue will ice on the roads tomorrow morning.

I've been working in Crosshills this afternoon/evening (6 miles North of Keighley).

Roads not bad, although I'd not fancy going over the hill from Hebden Bridge at the moment. Job was overlooking the line and Aire Valley services seemed normal.

For those travelling via Hebden Bridge to KWVR the temperature at 23-45 in Hebden Bridge is plus 1.5 degrees. Roads clear with only a little bit of snow about.

Dusting of snow on ground in North Bradford this morning and temperature hovering around freezing. Main roads all clear of snow and ice though. Trains on Aire valley may have slight delays as something had broken down on Ilkley branch at 06:45 when I came into Leeds from Shipley. Enjoy the KWVR if you're going. I'm working this morning but hope to be on the 12:45 from Keighley later...

Some fine snow still falling here this morning (4 miles from Keighley) at 08.15, but it shouldn't affect travelling too much, as there isn't much fresh snow on the ground. The current temperature is -0.7C. The latest forecast is for it to become dry, with the possibility of it brightening up later. Let's hope so.
