If you read both the articles in Steam railway , there seems to be a disconnect between what i'll diplomatically call aspirations and the reality of where the provider is at , at the time the article was written

    Suits me. A3, B1, D49, J72 and N2 would be a good lineup.

V2 & A2 (is BP still apple green?)
Would love to see 1306 out on the mainline, Gerald Boden was a great guy and one of the reasons I got so into Steam. I visited the NVR when 1306 was there and undergoing its last overhaul and he spent quite a lot of time showing me round the work he was doing and the B1s workings. Aged 10 or so this was quite something for me and left a massive lasting impression.

Neither the V2 nor A2 are steamable unfortunately.

Correct, however having them there, even unable to operate would still be something of a spectacle!

I was there with the loco that evening having arrived with the fish and chip order! It was a bit of mischief that really riled the photographers but I didn't realise that it went down in legend lol. SSS2 was a brilliant event on a railway with a great bunch of people

    Re: B1 (6)1306

Did it! Trying to shunt the yard and then getting harassed by photographers over a pink feather duster wasn't something we were expecting that night.

I have seen a pick of Marie sat on the bufferbeam waving it, but it was that long ago I can't remember where I saw it...

Yeah but it was quite amusing. most of the photographers saw the funny side and some of them apologised on behalf of those that didn't

    Re: B1 (6)1306

Thursday night of SSS2 we did a photo charter where 9017 was posed alongside 7822, the first time a Dukedog and Manor had been seen together with both in BR livery since the 1960s.

However, when we first got to shed 1306 was on the pit being prepared for her duties on the Friday. Now those of us from Llan/6880 had given the guys a awful lot of stick/banter during the previous week over how much they cleaned 1306 (it was quite intense), and so with a number of us on shed they stuck a pink feather duster on the front bufferbeam as a joke to live up to the reputation we'd given them.

We found it very funny, and full credit to the guys as they'd put up with a lot from us, however a select few photographers went absolutely ape as it was ruining their photograph, and as I was in charge of the shoot I was even asked by one person to 'sort the situation out'. Those of us on shed explained the situation to the photographers that weren't so irate, and most found the funny side to it and even those that had got annoyed at first joined in the laughter. Though I do seem to remember 1/2 still complaining even once I'd shunted 1306 into the shed. For those of you wondering, the feather duster stayed on for the entire shoot.

Thanks for that, despite it going down in legend I can't find a photo of it for the life of me!

The photographers were refusing to take pics of her because of the duster...

I'm really looking forward towards the emergence of Mayflower!

    Is she a 60mph or 75mph?
I would think the first but would like some assurance.

Where on Network Rail shall we be seeing her?

At 6ft 2 inch drivers she should be permitted 75mph, the owners may or may not stipulate a lower speed.

Anyone recall what 61264 was permitted to do on the main line?

    Re: B1 (6)1306

Pretty sure it was 75mph. Had some good runs behind 61264 when she was on the mainline. Seemed pretty reliable too. I remember it had a hot box at Norwich on one tour, the rest of the problems were due to crew errors (blown cylinder cover, dropping the fire at Scarborough and hitting the stops at Norwich).
