I presume you are referring to (6)1306 because 61264 has certainly been on the main line in the 75 mph era.

    Re: B1 (6)1306

All this goes to show the rather iniquitous nature of the current steam speed limits, whereby B1's and Std 5's can run at 75mph, but Black 5's and Halls with 6ft drivers are limited to 60mph, when both the latter frequently ran in the 70's in BR days. This is particularly so as we are blessed with many of the latter and few of the former thereby somewhat restricting the tours that can be programmed.

Would like to see the std 5's stretching their legs, and one of these days a Standard 6....

So, who is going to dust off their old Engineering Apprenticeship paperwork to find the bit about how to calculate Mean Piston Speed?
Then put a case forward to RSSB to review the wheel diameter / max road speed rulings?

Already happening as far AFAIK as part of Tornado's case for 90 mph, but I could be wrong.

    Re: B1 (6)1306

Has the boiler work been completed and is the locomotive still on track for a late April or May completion date?

Is 1306 doing break-in runs there? Is that the best location?

all running in will be done on site at the works where it is being overhauled apparently, the MNR visit is just a visit.

Thank God. No repeats of what happened to The 6023 last summer.

    Re: B1 (6)1306

Unless you're implying that the MNR has got an infestation of boiler gremlins I'm not really sure I see how the location of KEII's running in had anything to do with the unfortunate problems

How much room do they have at the works to *really* run in 61306?
