I have added 2 collections of photos of 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley in the 1980's on Pennine Pullman railtours

First collection is the S.L.O.A. Pennine Pullman on the 9th October 1982 leaving Huddersfield and passing the site of the old Hillhouse shed

Second collection is the Trans-Pennine Pullman taken at Leeds no date so any help with a date would be helpful
This photo is very interesting as it shows 4498 taking water at Leeds being passed by a (then) new HST (Wonder where the front end design came from)

Believe this could be the train run on 30/04/1977 when 4498 moved from its Philadelphia base to a new home at Steamtown Carnforth via a Newcastle - York - Leeds - Carnforth railtour

SLOA acquired the Pullman's during 1981 so it would seem that the date of the charter will be 1981 onwards. At least half of the train set had been painted into the Pullman livery by late 1982.

Oct. '82 Last trip before overhaul and the arrival of (the accursed) BR blue. Was originally scheduled for the 2nd since her ticket expired on the 9th.

I saw 4498 at Marylebone in 1986 and it was still LNER blue.

My mistake, the Pennine Pullman of 9th Oct. 1982 was 4498s last run before overhaul (the C. H. Thompson boiler job) but BR blue reared it's head in Oct. '94 while the the engine was on the GCR hmmm.

In my opinion the LNER Garter Blue on an A4 just doesn't look right when therer are no valances, im aware there were removed post war but LNER colours and no valances makes them look 'bottom half naked' to me.
