    Thanks,

The entry on the CR's News page mentions that they expect a timetable to be up this weekend. No sign yet, though (and yes, I did look yesterday as well!) so hopefully it won't be too much longer.

hi guys sorry for the late posing of the time table, as you know we have lost one of our engines this year so timetabling and working the bay train has been difficult, however i can confirm there is a time table it just needs to be confirmed and reviewed, so there will be one posted soon, i can promise it will be as intensive as ever so there wont be a dull moment!

Looking forward to it. Who is responsible for the weather, and can we have the same as the Saturday of the March Gala last year, please?

    Thanks very much for that.

As for the weather... currently it looks as if the really heavy rain over the weekend will be in the E Midlands. (It wouldn't astound me to see an inch of rain somewhere like Peterborough.) However, I'd be amazed if it stayed dry throughout, and I fear that for a fair amount of the time it will be cold, grey and dank.

Should make for some good photography then, the effects always look more dramatic against a dark sky.
There is plenty of sky at chasewater,

Sorry I can not make it but family duties means I might squeeze a trip to the WSR. I would rather be at Chasewater!

    Cheers,[/QUOTE]

I spent four hours at Chasewater today, managing to leave just as the real rain arrived -- and getting soaked walking back to the bus stop on the A5! It was my first visit to the railway, but I enjoyed myself a good deal. A very different line from what I'm used to on the SVR, but a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere. One or two problems meant that the printed timetable wasn't entirely to be relied on, but nobody much seemed to mind -- a good sign. A nice mixture of passenger, freight-with-brake-van-rides and coal trains, with lots of motive power changes. There was always something to see and do, including at the stations, what with the museum, stalls, refreshments etc.

Any problems? Not many, other than the rather poor signposting (for Chasewater in general, not just the railway) from the A5 for those of us not arriving by car; the footpath over the M6 Toll is not very obvious unless you have a map with you, as I luckily did. The usual contingent of hyperactive and very loud six-year-olds, but that's hardly a railway speciality! I have no idea how well the railway is run behind the scenes, but I didn't notice any passengers complaining, nor any staff being anything but helpful. I consider the £5.95 I paid for my day rover to be good value, and I shall be recommending Chasewater to interested friends and family. Well done to all concerned.

Some photo's from today at what proved to be a very pleasant day out once the rain had died away on arrival at Brownhills West: Chasewater Gala - a set on Flickr

Full marks to the Cafe at Chasewater Heaths, setting a standard many similar sized lines should aspire to.
