I wonder which station the overhang would occur? Would it be both Pickering and Grosmont? Or just one of them.

I think that 828 would be a fantastic addition to the NYMR Gala line up - fingers crossed that that is the mystery engine they speak of.

Before you even get onto NYMR metals just think of the curve through Network Rail's line at Grosmont!

I think it's unlikely. As far as i know 828's plan is still SVR SSG (assuming completion of reassembly following retyring), SSSIII at Llangollen, then home to Strathspey.

Not very familiar with the NYMR, are you? The NYMR's platforms at Grosmont are pretty well straight so I don't think there's much of a problem there, although the EVL line platform is very harply curved, as has been pointed out. There might also be a problem at Pickering with running round as I'm not sure if an LMS pacfic would fit the headshunt. That;s less of a problem, though, just change engines each trip.

I would suggest that the NYMR will be hoping that either 61264 or 62005 will be ready in time to be the extra mystery guest - I just hope it isn't Rocket!.

Everybody is entitled to forget. I've seen pictures and should have known.

One more thing as I browsed the Starthspey site is that they have another operational locomotive fresh out of the shops.

I guess sharp curves on many tourist lines is one of the reasons Lizzie or Sutherland don't often go to galas?

One wonders why ? City of Truro managed 5 including some heavy Pullmans over Dainton, Rattery and Hemerdon and Whiteball banks without the slightest difficulty, and broke one or two records in the process.

60007 failed it's steam test yesterday, further work will be required The Spring gala appearance must now have a question mark over it.
