Photos like that make me realise that perhaps there may just be some truth in the rumour that not all steam locos were originally designed by OVS Bulleid and ran within the number series 34001 to 35030.

    Good one.

Waiting in the sunshine in the field by the Lickey, along with 200 others at the moment. Panniers came down on time :)

just got back from seeing one of the finest spectacles of steam in the UK . The sound as 6201 came past was something else and then the faster beat of the two panniers and hearing them all the way up to Blackwell . Superb

Echoing 6029 and Sidmouth - what a fantastic sight and sound. Thanks to all those who make these things possible (including those who buy the tickets to ride!)

Does anyone know what happened with the Pannier leg back to Dorridge ? 45 minutse after they were due there was no sign of them despite them being on time up the Lickey.

I'll put my pics up later once i've had a go at sorting the lighting out in Photoshop.

Not a particularly brilliant shot but here's 6201 climbing Filton/Horfield bank.

What a great day out. We had Ray Poole throughout and he clearly enjoyed his day with Lizzie as much as we did. With 9 coaches and 340 tons gross this was a train to play with and that's exactly what Ray did. Rapid acceleration and line speed wherever possible.

The run from Dorridge to MP 64 just outside Oxford where we were almost stopped was just about even time. The section from Aynho to the check flew by at 75 ish. And it was all much the same down the GWML with quite a thrash through Saltford after Bath. Pathing was a bit more iffy up to Bromsgrove but that didn't stop Lizzie stretching her legs between Wickwar and Gloucester. The Lickey was remarkable. Two coaches from the back it was a nice balance of sound between the roar of Lizzie up front and the panting panniers at the back - 40 mph over the top from 18 through Bromsgrove.

Yes, we ran back into Tyseley where coaches took us back to Solihull or Dorridge. We were told there was an operational problem that necessitated this change. No great hardship though....unless you were waiting with a camera at Solihull!

Nice one Austin. You must have been there early to get a spot so close to the line.

Here's a video from three locations, two early morning and nice and steamy, then the Lickey this evening. Spent the intervening time at the SVR Gala :)
