This tour is diesel being run in conjunction with the Yorkshire Post.
Maybe UK steam will delete this entry!
A few RTC Overseas tours have a lot of diesel such as Peru/Bolivia although steam is normally preferred.
Rest assured - RTC is very steam based!!

And here's the brochure page - Cumbrian Coast Express

A clearer case of a misleading ad in a steam orientated brochure, with not one, but two pictures of steam on the train, could not be demonstrated. Steam is not mentioned in the text - but nor is diesel and the intent is clearly made plain by the illustrations

Shame on RTC! - I have commented on their misleading advertising photos before - but this takes the biscuit!

    Well hold up a second,

    I looked at the ad..

It has 2 pictures of 46115.
Its pricing is the same as the steam tours
it is accessible from the same pages as the other steam trips.
its name / route is very similar to another steam trip.
I cannot see any other diesel trips, they do not say it is not steam hauled.
UK Steam has made the same mistaken conclusion.

It may just be a clerical error, or may be add a line to say this is a diesel tour, but it's an easy one to presume its steam hauled...

Playing devils advocate, Frank has a point, the blurb makes no mention of the traction, the only possible indication is the pictures provided, i can see how joe public would think it could be a steam operation, though I do believe it's more an accidental ommision than anything more sinister.

Well I'm just going to suggest that since 46115 is in the illustrations one of the locomotives out of Carnforth would seem logical. I would suggest one of the 5's. I do wonder if the 8f could haul this one though. moderate speeds on both the S&C and Copy Pit Lines. Maybe Ralph knows or will know.

Plus if you look at the times on 'opentraintimes' there is a reversal at Leeds Station

    Hi Mike,

Hope you don't mind me holding you up as an example...

But you made the mistake were pointing out... It is a diesel trip apparently... No steam at all.

Tour now deleted from UKsteam. Actually I was a bit doubtful about whether it was steam hauled, but I got no reply from RTC when I enquired about it !

I wonder how many have shelled out their hard earned moolah thinking it is steam? Shades of the Liverpool Echo debacle are well in prospect unless this is well spelt out in the Yorkshire Post too.

According to UK Steam info "The Sussex Belle" on the 29th March has been "cancelled due to gauging issues"

Something arising from the works done in the recent closure of the Ashford-Hastings line I think.

Hey, with a large programme of works like that the National Network could become steam free?

    Bit confused right now,
On RYTC it says that 70000 britannia will work 'The Mancunian' in june, but on uksteam it says 70013. Has this only been a recent update because I seem to remember seeing that 70013 was mentioned. Either way, is this going to be the first brit into Manchester Piccadilly in preservation?

The brochure says 70013, so looks like a recent update.

Steam Railway stated 70013 would work the June 5th train to York for Railfest, meaning it would not be in a position to work the 9th jolly up to Manchester.
