A Jon Bowers organised photo charter on the Bluebell Railway with BR4MT 80151.The weather was not too kind but as usual the Bluebell crews made a great effort for the photographers.
A few of my efforts can be seen at http://stephenleek.smugmug.com/Rail...nk-charter/20039673_hs42fL#1579951593_RvqPVJX

Yes it was a tricky day David. We had to work a little harder to get some reasonable results but it was worth the effort.

Nice selection of photos from you both, shame you couldn't of had the weather we had in Burgess Hill on Sunday! I was looking out the window at work wishing I was outside!

Any significance to why it was renumbered as 80017?

I understand that 80017 was a Brighton based loco.

Originally the charter was going to be 80151 running as classmate 80154 paired with the 3 Bulleid carriages to replicate a typical Three Bridges to Brighton via Lewes service from the mid 1950's. However it was realised that 80154 wouldn't have been built until after that service came to an end. So it was a toss-up between 80013 or 80017 as these two were regular Std 4 Tanks on this service during the 50's. A decision was made to run the loco as 80017 because Roger Cruse had the smokebox number plate.

As 80151 is still in traffic Jon Bowers took the opportunity to run this charter again this time with the loco numbered as 80032.The weather played ball and the Bluebell crews put on an excellent show for us.Some of my efforts can be seen here BR4MT 80032 (80151) charter - Stephen Leek's Photos | SmugMug

A superb selection of photos from our charter on Friday. It's gonna be a damn shame when 80151 is finally retired for overhaul as it's been a stirling performer for the Bluebell over these last 10+ year's. Just hope either 80151 or one of the other Std 4 Tanks can be overhauled in a reasonably soon timescale.

    Cheers

    Thankyou David
I was pleased that 80151 last charter was blessed with some spring sunshine.I shall miss seeing a 4MT on the Bluebell, on my first ever visit to the line I had the pleasure of seeing 80064 on the service train.
Did you take any video of 80032 on friday ?

Yes I took 3 short video clips I've uploaded to Youtube. Apologies for the rather annoying "clicking" noise in the background, this seems to happen when uploading AVI video files to Youtube as this noise is not on the memory card. I guess there must be some inherant problem with Youtube not liking AVI's uploaded to the website.

How long will 80151 be working? - must make a trip over. The wait for repair at the Bluebell can be awfully long, and I'm too far away to help with the work, even if I did know much about restoring engines!

According to latest Bluebell News they are considering overhauling one of the standard Tanks (did not state which one but likely to be 80064 or 80151 both privately owned). No indication of start date given, but possibly after the repairs to 34059 or after the overhaul of 73082 is complete.

Yes my Pentax K7 DSLR has a movie option so I can shoot video clips. I had to buy an external mic to plug into the camera so it can record in stereo as without one it will only record in mono sound. The picture quality is pretty good, I guess not as a good as a dedicated video camcorder, but it'll do for recording short sequences and uploading them to Youtube.

    Cheers
