I'd make a guess at it being 45305 if 44932 is still down south.

If this is true, then it'd be the 8f's first run since last october! Be nice to see her out again. But I'm guessing that we'll see 45305 or 70013 out as they have most recently been used.

I have also been told that at fairly short notice the 8F has been allocated.

UK Steam states a load of 11. No doubt that would dictate the use of the 8F.

Well not really, Cromwell would manage that load, but 11 out of Victoria is a bit much for a 5.
The 47 is I am told being left at Southport.

I am hoping to get out in the morning to see this before work along the Southport-Wigan section though I'm not sure where yet.

Few minutes late away from Southport this morning. Full gloom, exhaust blowing sideways. Lovely weather!

Meant to say, 48151 on the front, 47580 on the rear. No idea if it was switched on, I was back in the car trying to warm up by the time the back of the train went past! Traffic on M62 was at a standstill, so only managed the one shot this morning. 3 hours to cover 50 miles!

I managed to get to Gathurst with about 10 seconds to spare this morning due to heavy traffic on the M6 heading north. Very brief bit of footage to post up later. I then got to Golborne in time to see the train waiting just by the A580 road bridge for the right of way onto the Liverpool-Manchester line and the restart before coming into work.

That's road transport for you! Even with 60-75 year old steam locos and a rubbish path, the first day of GBV can manage an average speed of about twice that!

All going fine on board, coaches vary from warmish to hot thanks to 47 on the back. Due to rail conditions it did give a push up Miles Platting, 11 and a 47 with wet greasy rail would have been asking a bit much even with Albert at the regulator.. Slight problem at Eccles, had to stop at green signal and tell the signaller that we were supposed to be going into the loop for water. He had us signalled straight through. No problems despite the sleet and snow beyond Rochdale and arrived in York on time.
