Had a very pleasant trip on the P&D today, 4277 was very impressive video to follow.
I'm also very impressed with the station very modern just a pity its not quite finished yet.
Greenway Halt looks good to will have to use it just to be different when its up and running, "Kingswear Signal Box" looks good too.
For those who are curious the Manor boiler is still on the deck at Churston and I believe the 52 is in the workshop.
Even so a very enjoyable trip

I was trying to call the P&D today, but the phone line emblazoned across their website wasn't working and BT were saying it is not recognised. :( Have they changed their phone number for public information ?

Something to do with new building works maybe perhaps someone went through phoneline or pulled it out?? Or its being moved with offices. Or there's a fault.
Whatever it is I'm sure they will want to resolve it quickly

There were power cuts in Paignton this morning. Maybe that had something to do with it ?

Very nice week staying in Goodrington last week. We were taken in by all the blurb about Greenway halt but when we asked to get off discovered it wasn’t open. The Guard was very apologetic and next day big signs appeared at all the ticket offices warning people before booking tickets. Great example of a railway listening to their customers.

Anyway had a 4-day rover ticket which was great for all the family.

Video on-train and off at: Goodrington to Churston with Hercules - YouTube
    (Goodrington to Churston)

Noted the boiler of Lydham Manor 7827 was on steam test last week, can be seen at the end of the video, highlighted by an excited son!

Yes as far as I'm aware and assume they will want it back in steam soonas at very least the 42 will require a washout

As I drove pass today, the boiler of the manor was being lifted back into its frame.

There are pictures of Queens Park Station at various stages throughout the previous 6 months on the railways Facebook page, we also put on events news and offers on there periodically.

Glad to see the rover tickets are being appreciated.

The Devon Belle coach is currently in the Paint Shop at Churston. In conjunction with the Carriage and Wagon work leaving Paignton for the redevelopment, it was planned for the "Belle" to be overhauled at Churston. As an ageing lady, there was of course lots to do but hopefully she'll be good for a decent number of years now, she is a very precious coach to both the company and preservation. She will be out again shortly, watch this space!

7827 now has her boiler back in and the Churston team are working hard to finish off the plumbing to have her back into service in due course. It's been a long winter for all involved.

Greenway Halt is nearly done. Hopefully this time next week we will have trains stopping there, serving the National Trust Property at Greenway House. Greenway has been built with modern passengers in mind but with a heritage feel. We hope you enjoy it too.

So far a good start to the season.

Something in Steam Railway about 4936 will be at the DSR over the summer? (p49 in the South Devon Banks feature). Day rover tickets now available?

Yes I saw that too. I guess to cover shortages due to 5239, 7827 and 75014 being under repair. Will be a hark back to the early 90's when Dumbleton Hall was working on the line! Looking forward to it.

5239 is suffering with a few firebox issues. Unfortunately the boiler has to come out so we are looking at a long job. 7827 will be back shortly, the Churston team are working hard to get her running again.

Also, the Devon Belle should be back on the train early this week, looking slightly different to before. We hope you enjoy.

Greenway Halt opened today. It is on the Churston side of the tunnel and is a 20-30 minute walk from Greenway House. Only certain trains stop at the station so please contact us or call in for more details. Today the station was used successfully by a number of passengers even though the dismal weather made it quite a chore to walk to the house.

Queens Park station is proving to be a success, as reported recently it is not quite finished, the staff facilities and workshop are still being worked on. However the passenger areas are pretty much complete. Come and see for yourself what we have to offer...and of course with all our combined trips and pubs and restaurants in Dartmouth you can pretend to give your family a day out whilst still getting your steam fix!

Don't forget this years Heritage Festival, 8-10 June. Rover tickets are now available as are multi-day hop on-hop off passes for our entire network.

And another thing, this year we bought the Western Lady ferry service, Torquay to Brixham. We are offering this trip at £1 single, £2 return, definitely worth doing on a nice day!

Visited last week for the first time, weather was awful. Very impressed with the railway indeed. The scenery has to be among the best of any heritage line. I loved all the various options with the tickets that tie in with buses, boats and Ferry's as it all seems very connected. Now if only we could go to Brixham by rail as well as by boat .....................

Hotel recommendation for anyone planning a steamy visit is the new Premier Inn at Goodrington sands. Its right on the beach in a quiet part of town, many rooms have sea view, free parking and the P&D Goodrington station is only a few yards and a 2 minute walk up the road, so you can easily walk up to watch the Loco's go past. It wasn't expensive either.
