    Oh ,has'nt worked!

EDIT: I've fixed the Youtube link for you. You need to use the "Insert Video" button on the forum, instead of Youtube's embed code. If you want to do it manually, use (VIDEO) and (/VIDEO) tags around the Youtube web address but using square brackets not round ones. - Richard

That was absolutely amazing. Mile after mile of 75mph running. Thanks for sharing, something special that video!

Somewhere near Greeley?? Amazing pacing country.

I always find it amusing the crop of pacing cars that follow tours over there, and the relatively few who attempt it here. The results - as shown - can be amazing

In all fairness to UK videographers, we don't have too many stretches of parallel road and rail where pacing can be done, unlike the mile after mile after mile available to our US cousins.

With a lot of ungated crossings! Hence all the whistle blowing, I think this was in Wyoming.

Did anyone notice that more smoke comes out of the rearmost orifice of the double chimney than the frontmost one?

The special was from Denver to Cheyenne so highly likely to be Highway 85 north - I have paced up there and it is a cracking road for the job - and 3985 looked and sounded just magic. Onboard in the darkness the night before hanging out of the stable door was better!

Whistle blowing at crossings is quite normal and in accord with rules , it may seem extreme from Uk point of view but normal in North America & Canada , two longs , short & a long blast which must continue into the crossing .............great eh

Maybe the atomizer out of sort , ideal situation is to have a light grey haze at the stack -- although maybe harder to achieve at this speed -- great to see this loco in action .......

That 4-8-4 certainly appears to run very nicely a t speed, what s the driving wheel size on it anyone ?

The new bingley bypass aire valley trunk road offers a few miles of pacing, but in summer the roadside vegetation becomes a pain...

There was a video link on here not so long back of a chase along the M5, again a few minutes of sheer delight. I'll try and find it.

That takes nothing away from that clip. If anyone fancies a miniature one I have a set of castings for a 3 1/2" version..

Edit: There are quite a few. The one I remember was 60009 'at speed...'

4449 has 80 inch driving wheels.
Look up 4449 and you will come across The Friends of 4449 website. http://4449.com/

By the way, 4449 is one of the steam locomotives in the Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation. http://www.orhf.org/capital-campaign/a-new-home/
The group are still raising money to move 4449 and her roundhouse mate Spokane, Portland and Seattle 700 from the Brooklyn Yard roundhouse to a building that is currently in the early stages of construction as part of the Oregon Museum Science and Industry.

Here is the update page of the new engine house under construction. http://www.orhf.org/enginehouse-and-rail-heritage-center/
Here is the page where donations can be sent. http://www.oregonrailheritagefoundation.org/capital-campaign/donate-to-orhf/

You can see the suspension working throughout the video there, great video showing the engine in total control working at speed.
