    Further to the recent addition of French & German steam loco photos i have been given some excellent photos of 70’s German Steam by Alan Costello
    Note the tender cabs on this pair

    I must confess to being baffled about those centre mounted tender cabs. What were they for, anyone know ?

    I have been informed by Alan who took the pics that there was a lot of tender first running in Germany at that time, so tender cabs were built

    As well as providing a driving position tender cabs enabled brakevans to be dispensed with and were fitted out with sink, heating etc, OBB also had a version.
