I'm out for a soaking at the lineside. Booked a days holiday as when first announced looked like the only steam over Copy Pit this year.

I would have been out for the return over Copy Pit but the better half decided to snap her key in the ignition lock of her car tonight so she will have to take mine to work tomorrow  :pout:

Anyway hope it's a good run tomorrow for all, Neil.

Just a quick heads up for anyone planning to see this through between Carnforth and Preston. I assume that 46115 is coming on the train at Preston rather than Carnforth as she was at Preston with support coach at 7.47 this morning.

On time following a northern service for York at Holme Chapel on climb to summit at Copy Pit. Followed by retimed freight train. Could hear 46115 all the way from restart at Burnley. Thanks for the heads up Ralph. Good to meet Austin again.

Must have made up a bit of time, about 5 down when it passed Rose Grove, paraffin can on the back for a bit of ballast (!), or more likely for shunting the stock at York. Copy Pit tonight!

Funningly enough when it passed me slowly there seemed to be a lot of steam issuing from underneath the front end.

There seems to be a lot of steam escaping from somewhere as it is very apparent in my video from Hoghton . Steve

I am glad it's not just me who thinks its offbeat, the Scots and Jubilees had a very regular beat which would change pitch when it passed, this sounds a bit like a V2.
    Nice video again Steve.

    Cheers Dave

The start from Barrow was delayed due to a signal problem so the train ran about 15 minutes down to Preston, This was recovered during the loco change and we left on time.
The climb from Burnley Manchester Road was steady with a few slips, and I am informed by a 47 enthusiast in the back coach who was waiting for it to chime in, that it did not appear to make any effort to assist. The uneven beat did not seem to hinder us as we made steady progress until checked aproaching York where we arrived about 10 early.

However the triangle saga has taken another turn.. CG has gone off the Museum yard to service, 47 has hauled stock out to south sidings, it is then going to the museum yard and when servicing is finished SG support coach and 47 will head off to turn on triangle at Milford?? Needless to say there are one or two unhappy people..

Does this mean a later departure or risk 47 is coupled inside ?

Slightly ahead of time at Ulleskelf, going very well, but still leaking steam. I have a sneaking suspicion it's that middle cylinder again.

This train was originally booked to use the engineer's traingle at York, so I guess it is encouraging that it was possible to turn on the Milford Triangle and service the engine within a reasonable time without delaying the return service.
