so maybe that's why they didn't use the triangle at York?

Perhaps but not neccesarily - i think they had trouble using the triangle on the previous 'Roses' trip, so they may have done this just to be on the safe side.

Saw Scots Guardsman on final part of climb to Copy Pit summit going well. Despite reported 5 minute early departure from Brighouse water stop, the train was held at Milner Royd junction to allow the York to Blackpool train which was more than 15 minutes down. Post my video of the day tomorrow morning before work.

The leak seemed to be far more noticable following a prolonged slip entering the first tunnel after the stop at Burnley, Manchester Road.

It appears it was only when we got to York that the crew were informed that the triangle was not available, so the decision was made to service the loco whilst the diesel ran the ECS to Holgate sidings, it then returned to the museum yard and as soon as the service was completed, top and tailed with the support coach and left for Milford. This worked well and they returned soon after 4pm, SG and support dropped off and backed onto south of stock and diesel ran on and came back onto north end. We were back in the platform some 20 minutes before departure. So the turn at Milford works but we were on a 3 hours 40 minute turn round, it would be difficult to use this method if the turn was less much less than that.

Seen yesterday morning on Brighouse station during the water stop, a certain well known resident of a nearby town introducing himself to a slightly bemused Mr Shuttleworth...

Just to clarify quickly to some of the posters, the York triangle is NOT yet out of use. Network Rail had some internal rostering issues last week and this week which meant that they had not set aside the necessary mobile ops personnel to supervise use of part of the triangle. A sensible plan B was quickly hatched together to get the job done involving Milford Jcn. I'm sure that would work again under similar circumstances although it does add more pressure to the day for ground staff than simply rostering staff appropriately whilst the triangle is still in use.

ALSO a quick note to say there is room in both classes for the 3rd and final York trip next Wednesday 18th April which again is routed from Preston to York via Copy Pit. Late bookings via the office or alternatively turning up on the day should both be fine (pickups are between Hooton/Chester/Northwich/Stockport/Denton/Preston).

    Stuart great pictures as always.

Austin & John great videos with great soudtracks funny thing on Austins soundtrack the scot sounds offbeat on Johns on the westbound climb she sounds normal and seems to be making a better job of it or, perhaps my ears are playing up.
Those rebuilt scots are real beasts they seem to pull whatever you hang on the hook, I'd love to see it tackle the Devon banks.

    Cheers Dave

Excellent shots considering the conditions - wish 46115 would come down south on occasion.

Looks to me that the sanders are on Steve, I have paused your video just before SG passes and there's definately steam coming out of the sand pipe in front of the lead driving wheel.

On the retrun climb of Copy Pit there was one bit where speed seemed to drop off rather quickly, but then she dug in and picked up the pace again and, as can be seen on Sowberby Lads video, approaching the summit she was plugging away at a more comfortable speed.

That's me, I had a very pleasant 20 minutes, Mr. Whitby pointed Mr. Shuttleworth out and we had a word, SG looked well (a bit of a leak but nowt much).
I like the Scots, I was brought up on Holbeck Scots, we used to try trespass:tape: in the shed on Sundays hoping for a few Scots and Jubilees. Happy days.
