Send the picture of the sheep to NR and the BTP so that they may identify and prosecute the culprits!:peep:

She did well yesterday and it was well worth a few quids worth of diesel and a pint of Sneck Lifter and Cumberland sausage and chips at the Agricultural Arms in Penrith

Tangmere has never done Shap or the S & C before ever - she failed at Oxenholme in 2003, and turned left at Settle Junction and went to Heysham with the pocket rocket in 2004

34067 double headed northbound over the S&C with 76079 on 14.02.04, and southbound on 21.02.04. She also worked a tour northbound without assistance (and with 13 on!) on 31.05.08.

Still, pretty rare, and a fantastic sight and sound despite the weather yesterday.

Unfortunately, a little 'over-cooked' in Photoshop, if you don't mind me saying so.

Have to report back that I did enjoy the tour yesterday and thought that Tangmere did well though I did think the game might have been up when it slipped near the summit at Shap. It does beg the question as to whether 12 coaches was "pushing ones luck" with Tangmere (or 46115 for that matter) especially as the weather and rail conditions were very kind at that time.

A combination of a challenging load with this loco and a wet rail could easily have resulted in an unfortunate outcome on Shap. But the outward weather was kind and that was lucky. More fortunate was the fact that NR was unaware of the risk - a greater one IMHO than not attaching a diesel to a train when there is a possibility of a spark catching the countryside alight. There is a certain irony there!

The driver achieved marvels getting up Shap, even if it was at 18mph. Frankly, 12 is too much for a WC/BB on Shap. Remember these have 57.2 tonnes of adhesion against 62 tonnes for the Scots and any Pacific will always slip more than a 4-6-0. The Southern light pacifics showed how they could climb on the Highland line in 1948 - but with sensible loads and bankers. Even getting up Ais Gill in that weather showed excellent driving skills, but both WCR and Network Rail would be wise not to try 12 again on Shap; less skilful handling could wreck the timetable.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but as far as I know the drivers were, Kevin Treeby north and Mick Kelly south. Not sure on this but it was said that it was Kevins first solo run with Tangmere.
