The Sentinel is the one under restoration at Midsomer Norton on the S&D now.

The location to give its correct name is Waddon Marsh Gasworks, Croydon.
    Happily all three locos survive.

Picture one shows Moss Bay, Kerr Stuart 4127/1920 purchased by Staffordshire County Council and now resident at Foxfield on permanent display in the museum and still in ex gasworks condition.

Picture two is Joyce, Sentinel 7109/1927 and as Martin says is under restoration at Midsomer Norton.

Picture three is Elizabeth, Avonside SS3 1865/1922 supplied new to the South Suburban Gas Co, Sydenham Works and moved to Waddon Marsh in the 50's. Converted to oil firing but later restored to conventional form, she carries the two saddle tank fillers from the oil conversion. Purchased by Mr McAlpine and taken to Fawley Hill, where it is believed she steamed a few times. Moved to Carnforth, 1986 and purchased privately for restoration before being resold to Safeway PLC in 1991 and cosmetically restored at Crewe Heritage Centre to a Green Livery and plinthed outside their adjacent Crewe stores. Sold with the Store to Tesco PLC and repainted Tesco Blue and Red before private purchase and removal to LNWR Crewe for assessment. Resold to a private owner and moved to his premises in 2010 where she is a long term restoration project.

Being the joint owner and restorer of Sentinel 7109, I can probably help with nearly anything about this loco. Eightpot has already posted the 'blog address where all is being recorded (except for how the security doors are going to work!).

The best way to follow progress is to enter your email address in the box on the right of the 'blog page or subscribe as a google person. All updates are then emailed to you (you can unsubscribe at any time). Comments/questions on articles are also welcome.

Yes, the restoration is taking place at Midsomer Norton station. The facilities aren't great so most sub-assemblies are being worked on in my garage. Steaming hoped for initially later in 2012 but obstacles do arise.

7109 eventually began steaming on 18th Feb 2016 and is expected to be hauling passenger trains regularly from 2017.
