Malc, sorry for the delay, I'll check tonight when I get to a copy of the timetable again... should also have an electronic version soon so can share more info.

Captain Baxter has arrived now and pictures are on our blog at Tanfield Railway

Thanks for the update - look forward to full details or even a link which would be ideal.

Perhaps this offer can be taken up?

Captain Baxter and Cochrane have warming fires in now for the weekend so I'll get the last bits of timetable information to people on my lunch break. George can you PM me your email address, Andrew I've got yours so I'll send it across in a bit.

Good day out today as it always is at Tanfield. Couldn't get over how difficult it was to buy a ticket, seemingly no one wanted to take our money either in the shop or on the train! Eventually on the second trip we managed to buy our tickets, can't help but wonder how much revenue is lost from those less scrupulous than ourselves.

Hi 3855, glad you enjoyed your day, Captain Baxter is an awesome piece of kit. I'll get the ticket issue looked into tomorrow too.

Looking forward to more of the same tomorrow with the added bonus of Renishaw Ironworks No.6 joining in the fun!

Enjoyed visit(s) today (morning and afternoon), managed to dodge the showers, as forecast was better in the end.

    Many thanks to all involved.

Did a round trip with Baxter and a short trip with AW No2 which I guess failed as Cochrane was on its second turn?

Seemed very few travelling and a guy I was talking to from Huddersfield didn't even know the line existed until Railway Magazine had this weekend in its events list.

Much more publicity needed in future perhaps?

More people should be there tomorrow hopefully

    Best Regards

Hi 47406. The Armstrong Whitworth's little hiccup is now cured, Cochrane substituted on one train, and it should be handling all of its booked turns tomorrow.

In terms of publicity, we suffer to a certain extent because of our geography and industrial focus to a when it comes to the specialist press. More focus is given to the the mainstream local media. We had our local ITV station in on Friday and, for example, last gala we had good coverage in all of the locals plus national coverage in Metro and one of the broadsheets (think it was The Times from memory but have a cutting somewhere). The biggest problem I suspect this weekend has been the constant predictions of fairly severe rain storms etc. We only really had rain for half an hour or so during the final shunting moves of the day.

As ever thanks for everyones feedback (both on here and in person today) it is listened to.

Have to say, even as an industrial enthusiast and a fan of Tanfield, I wasn't too flush with info this time round!

I had quite an enjoyable, if somewhat wet, day on Sunday. I made the effort to get up and catch the 06.05 rail replacement bus from Manchester Airport to Leeds, which meant I got to Sunniside in time for the first departure of the day from there, which was double-headed by Cochrane and Renishaw. Got off at Andrews House in order to ride behind Baxter. Had a round trip with Baxter then swapped trains at Andrews House a few times. Despite the lack of a proper timetable (rather disappointing), I had worked out (thanks to P&JR1854's info) that Baxter was staying on one train and the double-header on the other, until later in the afternoon when Cochrane double-headed with Baxter, so did a couple of Andrews House to Sunniside trips at the end of the day to get the other "combinations" in.

Bit disappointed that the Armstrong Whitworth only worked the first train from Andrews House to East Tanfield and back - before I got there, so I didn't get a ride behind that. I'm not really in to diesels, but I woudn't have minded a trip with that.
