Does anyone know of a source for the tape used as a white band on blue/grey livery coaches please ? The band is 3/4 inch / 19mm wide. Then of course there are the curved pieces at each end of the coach !
So far I have found only one potential supplier in the UK Untitled Document although there seems to be several US suppliers including Scotch

I don't know if these chaps may be able to help you?

    Coach labels (White) | Trackside

They don't list the tape you're after, but they may well be able to or 'know a man who does'.

When I painted E16071 into blue and grey, at Llangollen last year. I used 3/4" vinyl tape. Purchased from eBay!! It worked absolutely fine and looked great. For the corners, I hand painted the curves.

The numbers and other decals were bought from Trackside, apart from the 1 for the first class doors. I had to hand paint these aswell.

Its not tape used for the white stripe, its white paint.

The white is painted on, then a masking tape applied (3/4 inch) then the blue and grey painted and the tape then removed to reveal the white stripe.

I use 'Eurostar' tape from the local artist supplies shop as it gives a much better edge that masking tape.

They should be painted, but tape is a much easier, and quicker option.

I doubt it'll last like paint.

I would suggest not easier or quicker.

If you use the tape method for the white stripe, you still need to mask out for the blue and again for the grey and then apply the white tape. Where as using the painted white stripe method, the masking tape you apply over the white (To form the white stripe) also acts as a mask for the blue and the grey (Effectively killing 3 birds with the same stone).

I can remember seeing 304 class emus painted in blue and grey and most if not all in the Manchester area were 100% hand painted and that included the lettering/numbering and the the crows feet logo.
