What a surprise, a new contributor using a nom de plume! Well East Didsbury ( I can only presume that is not your real name) I sincerely hope that you did not pay for your reliable information, if you did, may I suggest that you ask for your money back. Your information is so incorrect that it could have come direct from a journalist we know, and I will refrain from comment on the crass stupidity of your final sentence.

The plain fact of the matter is that we have had long and bitter experience of the inability of certain reporters to convey accurate information regarding our operations, and find that providing them with information is a tedious process which is rarely successful and brings little benefit. Whilst you assert that we get free publicity for our trains, we are of a view that most of this is directed at the lineside fraternity who benefit greatly from the information whilst contributing little towards the costs of operating our trains. From the meticulous booking records which our staff maintain, I can confidently say that very few bookings arise from this source. Perhaps you should consider on balance whether it us who get the benefit of what you term free publicity from the magazine, or whether it is the magazine which gets the benefit of all the work put in by VTL and all of our colleagues who operate main line steam at very considerable expense, all of which provides free copy and subsequent remuneration for journalists good and bad. Inaccurate reporting is little more than the mouldy crumbs from last weeks dinner table and frankly we can do without it when it starts to cause passengers to want to cancel because they believe some inaccurate reporter in preference to the true facts.

    Regards
Bob Meanley (Real name and not afraid to use it)

I can think of lots of reasons why I would never speak to or trust HR, and all from bitter experience!

The Shakespeare’s run every Sunday from July 1[SUP]st[/SUP] to Sept 9[SUP]th[/SUP] this year. Lizzie is rostered for the first on July 1[SUP]st[/SUP].
We had a couple of Sunday tours in the planning stages for this season, but had to move them to Saturdays. We tend to get hampered by engineering works, especially with the New Street renovations.

We have another dual-pannier trip in the works.... Late Summer Bank Holiday Monday 27th August.

Details to follow, but it's going to involve double-heading and top & tail.
