News from South West Rail Gen this morning.

''220027 working the 20.47 off Exeter to Plymouth has broken down just to the east
of Dawlish station in very rough seas, all engines have now stopped. The waves
submerge the train every couple of minutes. Oh dear!''

''He has now managed to reboot the computers and is away!''

Modern technology versus salt water. No contest. <BJ>

Not related to class 70's are they? Just sit down wherever they fancy blocking the network.
If that was a steam loco, we wouldn't hear the last of it. Calls to ban them etc, etc.

They really should have done something about this by now, it's been known for quite a while Voyagers throw a paddy when coming into contact with seawater, the HST's however just go ploughing through the rough stuff at Dawlish no trouble.

Something has been done about it. Problem solved ....not. <BJ>

''.....units have also been stopped by salt water, when storm-driven waves broke over the train at Dawlish in south Devon and inundated the resistor banks, causing the control software to shut down. This problem was fixed by an upgrade to the control software''
