Pretty windy up at Birkett yesterday! 3 photos taken yesterday, and in none of them is it possible to tell the Duchess is now green. Oh well!

With such splendid scenery you really are spoilt for choice. When you head further south the choice becomes a bit more difficult, but there are still some fine locations throughout the country. All those who get out there and post their work here are worthy of praise.

I'm a little concerned about 5043 tomorrow. Load 12 up to Bristol Parkway and then Sapperton in the wet might be a bit risky? 5043 is a strong engine and would undoubtedly do it in the dry but the conditions look rough for tommorow.

I don't like saying the word diesel but given the loads that 5043 takes, the operators of Edgecumbe have probably told RYTC what the locomotive can handle.

I'm not aware of a Spamcan and a Brit ever working together in BR days, although the possibility was always there ie. an ECS working. In Kent and Plymouth, both classes of loco would have worked in the same vicinity. Has anyone ever heard of such a combination? Personally I thought the locos looked really good together. <BJ>

Next Saturday they are due to work the return leg of The Royal Duchy tour as far as Bristol.

    It's 70013 not 70000 by the way!
