This coming Sunday and Monday, May 6th and 7th. Besides the regulars including 9466 is the former LSWR/Isle of Wight O2 0-4-4 "Calbourne".

Small gallery of images from today . It was hard work photographically but I have to say it was a very enjoyable afternoon and an impressive site (and sight) . Five in steam , lots going on , two fantastic victorian coaches . The GNR 6 wheeled brake is fantastic .

My shots from a very wet Sunday. It brightened up a bit in the afternoon, and nice to see a kite flying round over the site. About the only thing I managed to phot in sun!

I went to the Buckingham Railway Centre (Quainton Road) on Monday for their spring enthusiasts event. There were five engines in steam including their visitor 02 Class 24 ‘Calbourne’ from the Isle of Wight Railway. This engine and their resident Beattie well tank 2-4-0T made an interesting comparison of two generations of LSWR suburban tank engine designs. Other engines in steam were BR(W) 0-6-0T 9466, Peckett 2080 and a Sentinel which made unusual sounds for a steam engine. I haven’t seen a Sentinel in steam since the sixties and I had forgotten what they sounded like; no exhaust beat but a racket from the chain drive. The photos can be found by clicking the link below.
