    According to the RPSI's bulletin, due to operating difficulties, the trip was re-routed to Killucan, a crossing point short of Mullingar

    Thanks for your reply, the train ran as far as Mullingar, then due to late running ran (back to) Killucan and returned to Mullingar, separate tickets were available for passengers joining at Mullingar, whose intended destination was Longford.

    Many passengers caught the service train back to Dublin around 7pm, as it was unclear at that point when or even if 461 would commence the return journey, as Panniertank mentions there's now an update on the RPSI website "We would also like to thank the staff of Irish Rail who helped to ensure that we did return to Dublin by steam! "

    Mystery solved!! wonder what the arrival time was? Always a good atmosphere on board, good food and draught Guinness too!
