I believe it will go to Bridgnorth rather than Kidderminster. Possibly as it's brand new it's best to avoid a 15 mile run until all the lubrication has been checked.

It's great to see the loco looking finished and outside. It will look even better when in steam and moving. A fantastic achievement by all at Herston.

    Regards,

    Paul

Based upon it being around Junction 2-3 on the M27, at 20 mph, it will take around eight hours to reach Bridgnorth. If they started at 07:00 and had an hour's break, they would theoretically arrive at Bridgnorth at 16:00.

SLL guys are arriving Bridgnorth on Monday. I think loco will be steamed minus superheater for various checks, then SH will be bolted up, so I would think first movement would be well into next week, even if no major snags arise. Thereafter it's as long as a piece of string.

The fact that there has been no traffic notice or amendments issued for this week concerning either a drag of SKP or instruction to keep the C&W siding at kidderminster clear for the delivery suggests to me that the loco will be delivered directly to Bridgnorth. Large low loaders have accessed station drive on various occasions before. Even the coal delivery lorry is pretty sizable and fit's relatively comfortably. Time will tell I suppose!

I know. Meant to put a smiley in my previous message. I'm sure the grapevine will provide all the info as and when.

I'm intrigued now. How is it done? There doesn't look to be a lot of suitable hard standing anywhere, especially where a low loader can be lined up with a suitable length of track. Is it delivered through the paint shop? Or is there room to the north of the boiler shop (doesn't look to be....)?

Will be unusual if it does go to Bridgnorth access is awful the only recent delivery I can remember was 42968 and that was because the line was cut in 2007.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the unload at Kidderminster and put it in the plastic tube in the yard for checking.
Loco's that visit are checked in Kidderminster yard and towed to Bridgnorth if necessary, logically lubrication should not be a problem after all you have got to start somewhere.

    Cheers Dave

Unloads at BH are generally done to the north of the boiler shop, with locos dispatched onto the boiler shop access siding. There is a surprising amount of room there (some of the fencing can be removed with a key) to maneuver a trailer, especially with the boiler shop doors open. The N2 1744 was delivered in this manner for the spring gala. Granted it's not as easy as delivery to KR, but in this case it probably makes sense.

SKP looked stunning this evening when I popped down for a look (and a pint of Bathams in the Railwaymans!). I look forward to having a closer inspection over the weekend whilst taking a break from cleaning.
