I'd love to see the Coal Tank next year, so 2013's Spring Gala is already starting to sound a bit tasty. I wonder if they'll try and get the H class now that it's overhaul is almost completed at the Bluebell?

Speaking as a member of the gala committe, i can safley say that we have had NO discussions either about next years gala or what engines we would like to see. Yes the Coal Tank has been offerred, but that is all at present.

Just a quick note to say thank you to K&ESR for excellent gala. Very courteous staff, plenty going on and very grateful for provision of so much non revenue freight for the photographers. Weather not too bad either. Good beer too - Leavers Alone highly recommended. I could go on ... Enough to say that I'll be back nexy t year, God willing.

Some lovely shots Ian, my Dad and I were just down the line from you at Orpins. Despite the poor weather and loss of the 2-8-0 we thought the K&ESR guys pulled-off yet another superb event and the freight/mixed train combinations were excellent.

Cheers David. Given the generally dull conditions on Monday I'm pleased with what I achieved. Managed a few decent sound recordings too. Had intended to take a trip on the vintage set but had my dog with me and he'd got rather muddy. Didn't think the KESR would appreciate him importing that mud into one of their carriages.

He would not have liked that. :) Loves getting grubby but not so keen on getting cleaned up if water is involved.

Speaking as a volunteer of the K&ESR, it was a great weekend, the Gala committee made it an enjoyable weekend. I as well as other volunteers look forward to 2013, lets just hope the British weather is better :)

A very pleasant weekend only let down by the very boring weather!
If it had been better I would have stayed much longer each day, but ended up just doing a few hours each morning...

My final photo results can be found in my new (in development) gallery here:

    All the best,
