    I was on the train and there was a fully loaded log train with a Colas 66 in a siding just south of Upperby. I assume this was the one. Was there a lineside fire south of Shap?

    Just read it -thankyou. I am looking at the bright side from all of yesterdays events. I now only need to sit in a loop at Tebay then I have done the the lot!!!! Still enjoyed the day, some fast running from the Duchess at times, just one of those days where one thing after another goes wrong.

    Err yes, my face is the colour of of a well cooked lobster and I am now slightly deaf after going out to a gig to photograph my mates band last night...:smokin:

    Factor 30 applied this morning as I am off to my sons final footy match of the season, 12.30 KO and 2 hours in the midday sun again.

    I will have a look at my footage from Shap and the Lune Gorge later tonight, I seem to have around 300 photos of sheep on my stills camera as my 10 year old daughter was with us yesterday....none of these though...:llama:

    After a splendid ride behind the Duchess yesterday on the support coach I would like to thank all involved for making me and the Mrs very welcome . Also a special mention to Paul Wood , Malcolm the chairman and all the hard working support crew plus Gordon Hodgson and the PRCLT fireman Simon Scott . My videos of the outward leg and the return will be posted soon . Regards Steve

    I am surprised no one has mentioned the problem 46233 had on the northbound run. Initially it sounded like a sticking drain cock but got progressively worse as we neared Carlisle. Don't really understand what the problem was suffice to say there was a lot of slipping even on the downhill stretches suggesting a loss of oil on the track. This obviously explained a lack lustre performance on the second part of the northbound run. The problem seemed to have been rectified at Carlisle before the return run.

    The support crew mentioned a valve or something had come away/or dislodged and a gasket was made and the said part was refitted hence we did not hear the noise again on the return .Shame about the long delay for us at Carlisle as the support crew bust a gut to turn the engine round so fast . Steve

    Stephen, who couldn't of heard how much sharper the exhaust was on he return. Sounds like the Duchess is finally back in mint condition!
