I wouldnt say the driver ex was stupid id imagine that was booked long before Calbourne was due to visit and it was good the railway could organise this visit for people to enjoy! It gave people three different engines to see in traffic for the weekend and an added train for the photographers!

No; the handbrake linkage on one of the brake vans jammed so the handbrake could not be released. It was an unfortunate problem, but one of those things on machinery of the age we work with.

I hasten to add that wasn't what I was thinking as I was sat in the Corfe up platform for 20 minutes on the M7 though!

Had a brilliant time on Sunday visiting the railway. Calbourne is a lovely little loco that seems to go very well. Although some the trains started to be delayed later on in the day this didn't seemed to affect much (not from what I saw at least) although does anyone know if Calbourne still worked the last round trip of the day as the guard I spoke to was unsure? Thanks to all at both the Swanage Railway and the Isle of Wight that made the visit possible.

Here are some photographs I took during the day: Swanage Railway May 2012 - a set on Flickr

Thanks Steve. I left Corfe at about 5:30 as I still had to cycle back to Wareham and didn't want to risk another round trip for it to be cancelled with me stranded at Swanage with no bike!

Would not have been cancelled as the last train was advertised as to run. Dont know why people thought it wouldnt run....

The guard I spoke to at Corfe gave the impression that it may or may not run. Calbourne left Corfe Castle at 17:20 and that was the last advertised departure off of Swanage. In his words "...we won't know until we get there". Either way not too much of a disappointment, still had a great time!
