I can now confirm that N7 69621 will arrive at the CVR on Wednesday the 30th of May and will stay at the railway until the end of September 2012. The visit may possibly be extended to include the February 2013 Steam Gala.

Subject to successful testing the locomotive will enter traffic on Saturday the 2nd of June on the Cauldon Lowe service. 69621 will be assisted by 33021 due to length of the train that we need to run this weekend and taking into account the power classifcation of 69621.

This weekend may be the only opportunity to see 69621 running over the Cauldon Lowe line as the S160 6046 will haul the services over the Cauldon Lowe line once completed.

Many thanks to East Anglican Railway Museum for making 69621 available at short notice.

    Regards

    Chris Meadowcroft

Any idea which way she is planned to face?

If she was to face South it means different photo ops available, plus we'd have a loco to face West for Endon re-opening...

Don't think it is. Believe 45337 hire has been extended with NNR meaning they no longer require the N7 for as long as was originally planned.

Plus this is the CHURNET Valley Rly, not to be confused with the COLNE Valley Rly which was only a weekend visit.

someone official has spoken of the changes. The NNR has a large working Steam fleet, whereas the CVR is next to nothing right now without the S160 up and running...
Be happy the black 5's staying instead of accusing...

East Anglian Railway Museums N7 69621 has spent the weekend at the Colne Valley Railway at Castle Hedingham, looked and sounded great.
It is then due to go to the other CVR very soon.

Does anyone know the weight of 69621? Online sources suggest N7's had three different weights depending on the boilers and that 69621 had an 18 element superheater making it 62T. However it also says 69621 was later rebuilt to match some of the later designs which weighed in at 64T.

I'm betting it's one of the two but can anyone advise which one?

As long as those who pay to have a ride behind it are happy, then that's all that counts isn't it??

Isn't this just nagative spin, as it will be smoke box out of froghall to churnet, which is uphill and is the usual preference, some give him a wooden spoon.

Of course that's all that counts, and I quite agree with all these comments. Was merely trying to make a subtle joke (hence the smiley!) that some photographers will always play devil's advocate and go the other way, no nagative spin or wooden spoons originally intended...

If the latter was how it was interpreted by everyone, then I apologise, clearly a misjudgement on my behalf.
