I feel that the problem was they had too many camera angles, but not particularly good ones.

Oh I'm sure NetRail took the lead on getting 6201 on the bridge.....yeah right!

No but they let it happen, not sure how busy that line is but she sat there for at least 20 minutes, maybe longer, and therefore deserve just a bit of credit.

I was talking to one of the Drivers involved today, what you may not have realised (I didn't) is that Lizzie whistled to The Queen in morse code. See if you can work it out!

Apparently so, not that I could tell you if it's right as I don't speak morse! Nice touch I thought, just a shame commentators didn't know so they could mention it.

Critical thinking doesn't appear to be a high priority for the role of news presenters nor those writing the stuff for the autocues.

A fantastic sight and a credit to all involved.

Credit where credit is due. NetRail (and everyone else involved) became most co-operative when they found out what we were trying to acomplish. Lot's of conf calls.

Y'all do know there are two threads for this same topic?

Even though 6201 didn't make it (pictorially)into the papers she does feature in the new issue of Hello Magazine.
And no I don't read it! I just browsed through their rapidly issued Jubilee Special and saw a picture of 6201 on the Bridge at Imperial Wharf.

There's a bit on the Network Rail intranet about 6201 being on the bridge from the guy who was co-ordinating the move. Maybe someone (any NR employees out there) could copy and paste it onto here? I'm at home at the moment.

Some of the comentary was of the classic "Colemanballs" type, such as "The Royal Barge is just behind the boats in front of it" but others showed a lamentable lack of technical understanding. Surely one doesn't need to be a railway engineer to differentiate a locomotive from a train and surely anyone with a sense of proportion would have thought that HMS Belfast couldn't be 91,000 tons?

It isn't just the need to ad-lib that can be blamed; only the day before Radio 4's news referred to the Burmese opposition leader making her first overseas trip to Thailand. I didn't think that Thailand was overseas from Burma.

    Surely they meant 'hooter' LOL

So why don't those old BR warning signs say: 'BEWARE OF TRAINS AND LOCOMOTIVES' ???

The one that gets me is 'quad bike'. If it's got 4 wheels it can't be a bike!

:confused1: Let me think..................no.......................no I definitely did not say that NR "took the lead". I did say "well done to all concerned". I feel sure NR DID play some small part in bringing it together. :noidea:

When did they fit 6201 with a 'steam trumpet' and is George Stephenson still receiving royalties?

Folks - I need your help.

Both VT and 6201PELS need a good couple of pictures of Lizzie on the bridge to use in our brochure, etc.

If anyone would be willing to share, please email me a high-res copy to ben@vintagetrains.co.uk

    Regards.

    Ben
