I was at Railfest and decided to allow more than enough tme to go to see 5043 and was surprised to see her waiting for her path into the platform quite a bit before she was due in.

Must have been some great running again.

I was on this tour yesterday, and have to say that it was a damn good show from all at VT - 5043 was on top form, and the service was amazing. I left my phone on the train at York, and had it returned to me, with appropriate mild ribbing from the stewardess, as we got back on, the food in Premier was absolutely top notch, and to top it all off, I had a birthday cake, and rousing chorus from all in coach A, presented to me as we sat at Barrow Hill on the return... An amazing day out.

Just to second the above post. An amazing day with the run back being the highlight for me as we tried to claw back time, (not to say the outward was disappointing) . We were held up at Barrow Hill North Junction for a good 20mins waiting to proceed up one signal to take water, (Stewards mentioned to me afterwards about NWR wanting to let the two freight trains pass us before we moved forward / something along those lines). I thought it would have been setting up a block so that the water hoses could be fed under the adjacent line which happened??

Having left about 30mins down we reckoned, 5043 then proceeded to claw back time to the extent that we arrived into Burton early! Words cannot describe how awe inspiring it is to steam into the sunset in the high 60's / maybe low 70's for mile after mile with your face outside a window breathing it all in. Fantastic stuff.

Full congratulations to Vintage Trains, NWR and WCR from me....now need to pick the next run!

Ah, Happy Birthday to you, Regards from one of the Rowdy SVR lot in coach A :)

A fantastic tour yesterday, Ben, Suzanne and the team excelling themselves yet again with some absolutely top notch service in the Prem-Dining section. The Run back from Barrow Hill, clawing back the time into the sunset was absolutely stunning, what more could you want with an accompaniment of fine wine than the chorus of 5043s 4 cylinder bark chattering across the countryside up ahead...?
