I'm wondering if anyone can provide, or point me in the direction of someone who can provide, a full size resin replica of a Stourbridge (84F) Shedcode plate? It is for a specific purpose which requires it to be light, otherwise I'd've gone to Procast.

    Don't you mean 84F? 84G was Shrewsbury.

Correct, misread the list! Post amended.

TBirdFrank - good thought, but I'll need to find someone prepared to lend me a real one to make the mould off.

Not necessary - all you need is a shedplate template for the bearer and a few fridge magnet letters from which to create a mould

I need something with rather longer term durability than that, unfortunately.

Frank, I appreciate the concept, but I'd quite like to have one made off of the real thing.

I am sure that one of the replica makers does them in Aluminium. Worth a call to Newton Replicas or Procast?

Procast do them in Aluminium, but I'd need to know the weight before considering it for the task required - I might give them a call. But it will be in a public place so I'm thinking resin stands less chance of being pinched!

The ones I had weighed next to nothing - sorry I sold them on or I would weigh one for you!

I think you misunderstood my point - Use an original shed plate to create a basic plate template mould as a frame for the number and letter. Within that mould you use fridge magent figures to create the code mould.

Then fill the completed mould with resin - and voila - fake resin shed plate.

I made a couple of fake bridgeplates that way substituting the owning company with the name of my property above the central main number.

    Evening

    Aluminium shedplates are 390 grams

Lupin replicas ( Doncaster ) used to make resin ones I think they advertise on ebay.
Off the top of my head there is not a lot in weight difference between the aluminium and resin ones.

Resin is good until the screws get over tightened or somebody tries to prise it off! then it just snaps.
Of course once painted, both the resin and aluminium ones look "just like the real thing".

Best bet and by far the lightest would be a hollow backed fiberglass one, as there will be a bit of give in it should somebody try and have it away. They would hopefully realise its " not the real thing".

    cheers JIM
